My Favourite Perfumes

Soon I will be starting my next module, 'Creative Networks' on my degree course 'Fashion Communication and Promotion' where I will be learning about the promotion and branding of fragrances. Therefore, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share with you some of my favourite perfumes, which I wear as a statement accessories every opportunity get. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I live by Gucci perfumes and wear them as my signature scent; without trying to waste a whole bottle of course and two of my favourite fragrances to wear from the brand are Flora 1966 and Gucci by Gucci.

To read more about other perfumes I like you can go to my blog post 'Marc Jacobs 2015 Fragrance Decadence' .

Flora 1966
Gucci Flora is one of the latest perfumes from the brand and was one that was inspired by the Flora scarf that was designed for Grace Kelly in 1966 by the son of the founder of the brand, Rodolfo Gucci. The signature Flora silk scarf is a heritage of the brand that represents traditional poise, natural beauty and elite status, resembling the traits of the princess of Monaco herself. The perfume includes a rich combination of beautiful flowers for ingredients such as peony, patchouli, rose and then a pinch of bourbon pepper to encapsulate an opulent aroma of charisma, elegance and romance.
Instantly smelling this perfume I knew that it was a fragrance that one day I must own and would never forget about. It is a perfume that reminds you of summer days, innocence and true beauty growing up but it is also a fragrance that spiritually transports you back in time to the sixties; a time when womanhood and femininity was being redefined but still very much embraced. Especially by the likes of Grace Kelly, Jackie Onassis and Elizabeth Taylor who were all classic iconic accomplished women during the 20th century. Yes the sixties was the age of modernism and a new wave of identities for women fuelled by the shift in culture but we cannot forgot that some of the greatest feminine women lived through this decade.
As for the bottle that contains the perfume, the hexagon flacon is covered in a black glossy texture complimented with discrete gold lining for a minimalistic yet stylish design. However, Gucci have still presented the iconic print through the packaging which compliments the flacon with a luscious silk tote bag decorated with the botanical pattern for the true Flora experience.
At first I thought this perfume was a little over priced at £140 but it truly captures the exclusivity of Gucci and has such a stronger, passionate scent that Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia has.

Gucci by Gucci
This might not be one of Gucci's most recent or even popular perfumes, but it is one that is timeless to me. However, this rich 2007 perfume is still quite modern at the same time as it offers a strong sensual scent of Musk, Honey, Patchouli, Tahitian Tiare flower, Guava and pear to represent a perfume perfect for an ambitious and confident woman who will be remembered for her unique ways. The perfume also has offers an image of luxury and desirability with the use of a rich gold textured clasp and chain to secures the brown translucent flacon.

Dolce Rosa Excelsa by Dolce and Gabbana
This perfume has just hit the stores but after trying it on yesterday, I knew it was one that I needed to add to my collection. As you can probably guess I normally go for floral based perfumes as this one from D&G also has the same sort of aroma.
Just like their runway shows, Dolce and Gabbana have transferred their Rose motif into the ingredients and the sculpture of the bottle for their new Eau de Parfum. The rose may be Dolce and Gabbana's signature motif but this perfume is as fresh as ever with two different blooming rose notes for ingredients. The first rose is the rare African Dog Rose which has never been used for a perfume before and comes from a coastal South African tree and therefore, adds that unique and memorable touch to the scent. The second rose note was taken from the deep pink flowers of the Turkish Rose Absolute which brings the intensity and richness to the odour. Both scents put together create the perfect concoction of scents for a feminine woman in search for a delicate but perfume that captures the pure spirit of the traditional Italian brand.

dolce and gabbana dolce rosa excelsa ad campaign

Here is a link to the advertising campaign which celebrates the talents of director Giuseppe Tornatore, composer Ennio Morricone and actress Sophia Loren to promote the symbolic new perfume, 'Rose Excelsa'.

The advert combines youth and wisdom which can be seen through the character of Sophia Loren and her sons love interest Rosa to depict a message of everlasting values of the rose, timelessness and families coming together. Family and romance have been two of Dolce and Gabbana's main brand values for a long time now and is highly represented in their campaign for 'Rose Excelsa' as the Loren family host a classy day party after their refurbishment of the Sicilian manor to bring their closest together and celebrate their Italian heritage.
