Hi everyone! Apologies for not making a blog post about my fashion week favourites on Friday but hopefully I will make up for it with this blog post! Instead, I wanted to look at something a little different and not so high fashion. Therefore, I had to wait a few days, to make a post about the recent Miss Universe 2015 pageant that took place on Sunday 20th December. It was a glitzy night filled with flawless gowns, extraordinary yet diverse nationalistic costume choices, catty drama and accidental crowning's, but as always, the most beautiful women in the world took to the stage with confidence and elegance to communicate why they should win the glamorous title. Normally I am not one to agree with this sort of competition because beauty is not something that should be categorised nor should it be something that is subjected to a stereotypical image of a girl who wears layers of makeup to portray an unrealistic 'beauty'. Especially as competitions like these communicates a message to young girls nowadays that this unrealistic beauty is the true vision of perfection and something to aspire to be. It should promote a variation of different types of 'beautiful' and not just one that appears airbrushed and rather mediocre in this 21st century modern world.
However, as I watched the high profile beauty pageant, I was amazed with the impeccable and immensely detailed attires that were worn by the contestants and as a fashion student, it was something I could not help but blog about. So in this post I am going to share with you, my five favourite garments from the National Costume and the Evening Gown competitions on Sunday night's show.
