A trip down Cobden Chambers- Cobden Place

In the heart of Nottingham City Centre, hidden away in the chambers of Pelham Street, lies not only a café but an abode to design, art and culture, fashion and retail, inspired by the independence and individuality that runs through the artistic city. This place is called Cobden Place. I first came across the café, that has only just opened to customers this autumn, whilst I was venturing to the independent magazine shop 'Ideas on Paper', to pick up the most recent copies of 'Dazed and Confused' and 'AnOther Magazine' (the usual's) and to admire and flick through other contemporary, idiosyncratic and eclectic magazines that the shop has stocked. Developed among such amazing street architecture and designs of colourful illustrations of woodland creatures, the destination is filled with natured and environment with creative twist that surrounds the walls of the chambers. Cobden Place, the once 19th century old lace factory named Pelham Place, a workplace to lace designers, dressmakers, watchmakers, wool merchants and milliners has been restored into the perfect place for the visitors and residents of Nottingham to socialise and grab a bite to eat. They are also to discover and enjoy the independent brands, designers and the works of artists that have taken either permanent or temporary territory within this quirky little establishment. Cobden Place has always got something innovating and interesting going on week by week communicating visions of both modernism and expressism within today's art for all demographics!

Not to mention that the café serves delicacies such as cakes from Small Food Bakery and Willow and Dove for those with a sweet tooth or for those feeling a bit more organic, the café's cuisine is filled with fresh locally sourced ingredients with meat, vegetarian and vegan options. Something for everyone throughout the week and it is especially the perfect getaway on those rainy afternoons for a catch up over a mug of Bluebird tea with family and friends.

In the centre of the creative quarter boundary of Nottingham, Cobden Place also offers a variety of workspace for creative businesses and independent designers to collaborate and promote their brands through in house network events. For instance, from the 16th - 22nd November, Cobden Place is holding a 'Global Entrepreneurship Week' at the New Forms Hub located on the second floor of the building! So if you're thinking about starting up your own business and looking for inspiration and advice, make sure to get yourself down to the Hub sometime this week before Sunday!

Following on, for those looking for something a bit different in terms of fashion and retail, Cavology at Cobden Place offers fashion, home-ware, Art, lifestyle and giftware to purchase. Perhaps if you're looking for the perfect house warming gift, birthday cards and presents or a unique piece for yourself, the brand offers a collection of witty stationeries, notepads, Cat and the Hat clocks (yes, neither have I seen one of these since I visited the world of Dr. Seuss at Islands of Adventures, Universal studios in Florida back in 2012), home comforts such as mugs and cushions, books & vinyl's, classic British messenger bags and slouchy knitted beanie hats for those chilly winter days.
